JENO engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise Shaping Optimization)

Jitter is the main cause of interference in digital transmission systems. It is caused by clock deviations used in digital to analog conversion. In order to eliminate jitter problems affecting sound quality, Technics has developed a new jitter suppression circuit. It consists of a clock generator in the noise shaping system, which reduces jitter in the low frequency range, and a precise sampling rate converter, which suppresses jitter in the high frequency range.

Jitter is thus ideally reduced over the entire frequency range. This solution is based on a newly developed, original PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) conversion circuit that optimizes the speed and extent of noise shaping, requantization error and PWM grading so that high resolution signals are converted to PWM without affecting the dynamic range. These new technologies allow Technics next-generation digital amplifiers to reproduce the natural and subtle nuances of music.

GaN FET driver (Extremely fast, low-impedance power components)

To ensure a high-precision amplification of accurately generated PWM signals, extremely fast and lossless switching operations are necessary. Technics uses ultrafast GaN (gallium nitride) MOSFETs with extremely low on-state resistance.

Since this type of MOSFET allows the design of a high power amplifier with a single push-pull configuration, the signal path, where high currents flow, could be kept very short. This results in a sound reproduction with excellent linearity, regardless of the signal level.

LAPC (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration)

The impedance of a loudspeaker is not constant. It varies depending on the frequency, which changes the load on the amplifier and possibly also the sound. Technics can measure the frequency, amplitude and phase characteristics of an amplifier with speakers connected and has developed an optimization algorithm that adapts to the impedance.

With digital signal processing, an ideal impulse response is achieved. Corrective processing based on the new algorithm provides a smooth frequency response for amplitude and phase, which is not possible with a conventional amplifier. This creates sound with full spatial character.

Ultra-fast, low-noise hybrid power supply

In a conventional switching power supply, the switching frequency changes under load fluctuations to stabilize the output voltage. This fluctuation in the switching frequency has a negative effect on the sound quality. The newly developed power supply lowers the noise due to a fixed switching frequency, which affects the sound quality. In addition, the second stage of the switching power supply includes a series regulator which stabilizes the output voltage.
