The Rega DAC-R is a 16 / 20 / 24-bit digital / analog converter. PC / Laptop and MAC are meanwhile accepted as storage place and for the streaming of music.
To get perfect music from these digital sources, you need a perfect D / A converter.
This is where the DAC-R comes into play! When using high-quality lossless files such as WAV and the like. The DAC-R offers equally good, and in some cases better, musical results than the CD.
The input stage consists of a Wolfson digital receiver with a high stability and low jitter.
In the DAC stage, a pair of parallel Wolfson WM8742 DACs work. The output amplifier is designed with a high cut-off frequency for higher sampling rates.
Jitter was minimized by synchronous timing of the digital data with the receiver PLL (removes jitter from the input signal). All capacitors associated with the analog signal path, nichicon FG, and low-resistance conductive polymer capacitors have been used for DAC decoupling.
Power is supplied by a toroidal transformer, fast rectifier diodes and again Nichicon FG capacitors. The power supply for the microcontroller control is completely separate from the digital and analog audio stages.
