The ElectroMotion E (EME) embodies all new Martin Logan design elements of electrostatic speakers as the smallest electrostat in the family.

The Electro Motion ESL-X is the tuned version of the successful Electro Motion ESL. A larger foil and a dual woofer system give the - still compact - Elektrostaten greater dynamics and sovereignty. The new flagship model of the Electro Motion series set a new benchmark in terms of price / performance in every respect.

The Electro Motion ESL X has gotten a new XStat ™ Electrostatic element, one with 50in20,3larger area than the ESL. To match this, two 24cm woofers work in a non-resonant, asymmetrical housing, which is equipped with an extremely highly compressed membrane.

These exclusively designed by Martin Logan woofers white a very high rigidity, with low weight and are the result of many years of research at Martin Logan to create an extremely clean and fast bass - to match the electrostatic transducers.

The exceptionally natural reproduction of the Martin Logan speakers is not least due to the famous Vojtko ™ crossover, which of course is also used in the ESL X, with its own transformers made by Martin Logan, with Air-Core coils, with large, steel-plated connections and expensive polyester capacitors.

Designed specifically for the Electro Motion, the XStat ™ element is an ideal combination of filigree frame and stiffness that is important to the sound. The micro-perforated stator is a key factor in this, and as a byproduct, it has exceptional transparency, the ESL X almost disappears.

The CLS ™ (Curvilinear Line Source) technology, one of Martin Logan's breakthroughs, has become an integral part of every speaker made by MARTIN LOGAN, and the ElectroMotion ESL X is no exception. Proprietary manufacturing processes allow the construction of electrostatic panels in the form of cylindrical sections.

Their slight curvature solves the problem of achieving good high frequency dispersion from a large radiating surface without compromising sound quality or reliability.

Excellent bass integration
To seamlessly mix audio output from the high frequency and midrange electrostatic panel to the low frequency woofer, the ElectroMotion ESL X has a proprietary Vojtko ™ topology filter utilizing an application specific air core coil with low DCR steel laminate inductors (DCR = Direct Current Resistance) of series-connected polyester film capacitors and parallel-connected low-DF (dissipation factor) electrolytic capacitors.

Specially designed for the EM-ESL X, Martin Logan's in-house engineering team has developed two precise, perfectly balanced 20,3cm woofers with a special fiber cone that has a big stroke and offers audiophile quality.

In this woofer, the cone suspension and magnetic flux field are precisely matched to produce high levels. The stiff lightweight diaphragm of this specific woofer eliminates the cone flex and maximizes the time of the rection to achieve remarkably low distortion, which is matched with the award-winning MARTIN LOGAN electrostatic panel.

Uncomplicated connection and solid, adjustable feet
User-friendly speaker terminals with plug-in type and oiled inserts make it easy to connect the speaker cords. The rubber caps on the clamp can also be removed to use banana plugs.

The EM-ESL X comes with stable ETC ™ spikes for fine tuning and stability. Each spike is equipped with removable rubber caps in case you do not want to use the tips of the spikes.

The new XStat panel of the EME is visually so transparent that you almost do not see it when you sit and listen.

Sound radiation with controlled dispersion

Another key feature of the ElectroMotion E exists in its naturally dipolar radiation pattern. As a true dipole, the EME with equal intensity from the front and the rear of its diaphragm while the outputs are in opposite phase.

Since the beginning of loudspeaker development, a uniform emission of the loudspeakers is a problem of all designers. Loudspeakers with large panels require an even greater challenge, since as the surface area of ​​the diaphragm increases, the radiation characteristic becomes equivalent to the problem. Thus, electrostatic loudspeakers have long been the most difficult transducers because they provide the possibility of full area transmission over a large area. After a long development, Martin Logan engineers discovered a simple solution for perfect radiation without degrading the sound characteristics. By slightly bending the electrostatic transducer, a controlled horizontal radiation could be achieved without altering the electrostatic principle. Again, this simple-sounding solution took time to transfer it from the lab sample to a finished product. The unique, patented technology is found in all Martin Logan loudspeakers. It is the deciding factor for the special sound quality combined with the undisputed functionality of all Martin Logan products. The optically transparent, cylindrical shape of the stators makes each Martin Logan a beautiful and distinctive object.
